Currently, the road freight transportation sector is an environment that has been seriously affected by the insecurity that lies in the theft of goods, which has a direct impact on companies whose business focus is to import and export goods.
The said robberies, have seen an increase over the years, which yields figures of 5,435 crimes in 2015, to 10,230 robberies in 2017, representing a growth of 88 percent in two (2) years.
The theft of trucks and tractor-trailers insured in the country doubled last year, which impacted the price of insurance premiums covering these units. This was reported by the Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions (AMIS). "We face an increase in policies of 130%. Costs are making us unproductive throughout the logistics chain," said Enrique Gonzalez, president of the National Chamber of Freight Transportation.
